Blog Post: What’s the benefit of attending the Healthcare Job Fair?
posted Monday, October 12, 2009
If you are planning on attending the upcoming Healthcare Job Fair, coming prepared with realistic expectations of the event and a well thought out strategy will be your key to success.
With technology today, most companies now handle all applications via online. Many, if not most of the employers may ask you to apply online. Then why spend $14 to park and a half hour in the car to be told – go apply online? The purpose of the job fair is not to physically hand your resume to the recruiter, it’s to personally connect, make a positive impression, and gather contact information for your follow up. Having a great conversation with a recruiter at the event, sending a thank you note and referencing your conversation, then applying online – that’s what will make you stand out amongst the hundreds of other job seekers applying for the same position. This change in recruitment practices may be a little frustrating for job fair attendees. The most important thing to remember is you want the recruiter to remember an optimistic and happy job seeker because that could make or break your chances of landing the job.
