Blog Post: HRCI Recertification Available at AZ SHRM State Conference!

posted Wednesday, September 3, 2008 1:14 PM

So I am here at the 14th Annual Arizona SHRM State Conference and boy am I impressed.  As HR professionals, we all know how tough it is to get those elusive strategic recertification credits for your SPHR, and this conference has 5 strategic credits available!  In total, there were 11.75 HRCI recertification credits available.  Thank you AZ SHRM for helping us with our recertification!

I also spent some time with Jack Milligan, SPHR, GPHR to talk about HR certification.  He provided great insight in the difference between PHR, SPHR and GPHR certification.  Jack shared that PHR certification is usually recommended for HR professionals that have at least 2 years of exempt level experience in HR.  Jack feels that even though you can take your SPHR exam once you have completed 2 years of exempt level experience, you will be more likely to pass the exam the first time if you have 6-8 years of general HR experience.  GPHR certification is much more rare and is reserved for HR professionals that work at an international level of HR.  (By the way, Jack is one of two people in Phoenix who is dual-certified with his SPHR and GPHR!).

We got some great video footage with Jack, so stay tuned for more thoughts on HRCI recertification!

If you missed the AZ SHRM State Conference this year, make sure to sign-up for the conference next year!
