Blog Post: JAG Opens 3 New Programs This Fall
posted Wednesday, August 6, 2008 10:58 AM
Jobs for Arizona's Graduates (JAG), a local drop-out prevention and school to career transition program, will be offered to 120 additional high school students in the Tempe and Tolleson High School Districts this fall.
The Tempe Community welcomed the JAG program back to Marcos de Niza and into Tempe High Schools in an effort to increase support for Junior and Senior students who lack a plan after high school. Generous support from the Tempe Community, with a match from Jobs for America's Graduates provided the support for these new programs. Copper Canyon High School in the Tolleson District started a JAG program serving 40 Freshman this week, focused on increasing grades, credits attained and attendance in order to improve overall positive outcomes during high school. These and all of the JAG programs across the state work closely with businesses in their communities to expose high school students to various career options, and get them thinking about their plans after high school. Through delivery of a curriculum focused on life, leadership and employability skills, JAG students leave high school prepared to enter the workforce.
