Job Summary:

The Visitation Monitor provides safe supervised visitation services for children of divorcing parents, parents who are already divorced and to never-married parents. The Monitor ensures the provision of a safe, supportive and comfortable atmosphere for children to have contact with their family members by facilitating supervised exchanges and or supervised visits. The Monitor is required to prepare reports for the Courts and appear and testify at hearings as ordered by the Court.

Essential Duties:

* Prepares fully for each assigned case.
* Facilitates exchanges and visits as specified by the Court and the Case Manager.
* Ability to safely facilitate and supervise both on-site and off-site exchanges and visits.
* Ability to facilitate de-escalation of inappropriate client behaviors.
* Provide accurate and clear documentation after each supervised exchange or visit.
* Provide documentation to be maintained in confidential cases such as Summary of Visitation and Summary of Exchange forms.
* Prepares and submits reports in a timely manner.
* Transport clients as required.
* Testifies in court as necessary.
* Other associated tasks as required.

Skills / Requirements
Qualifications:

Must have highly developed interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally communicate with tact, diplomacy and/or authority when necessary; must demonstrate an understanding of divorce and its emotional ramifications:

* Must exhibit the ability and attitude to work and respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population
* Must have extensive experience in child development, parent education, family systems theory, child welfare, and experience in providing family centered support services.
* Bachelor degree or high school diploma or GED with extensive experience.
* Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
* Must withstand thorough investigation of prior employment, education, criminal contacts, health and related problems.
* Must have or arrange for an insured vehicle containing working seat belts sufficient in number as required on cases assigned.
* Must have a working knowledge of child development stages and demonstrated ability to manage children’s behavior as well as supportive parenting techniques.
* Must have a working knowledge of the stages of grief and loss associated with divorce as well as the concepts supporting co-parenting.
* Must be able to observe perceptively.
* Must be assertive, self-composed, self-assured, and able to exercise authority as necessary.
* Must be and remain objective.
* Must demonstrate good judgment.
* Must have and continue to develop good communication and interpersonal skills; must be able to understand and interpret non-verbal messages.
* Must be able and willing to follow through with minimal supervision.
* Must be patient and flexible.
* Must be able to relate to all cultural, ethnic, socio-economic groups, and different lifestyles. Bilingual ability may be required for some families.
* Must be willing and available to testify in Court if requested to do so. Must be able to write concise summarization of visits for use by the Court and others.
* Must maintain high ethical standards coupled with the honesty and willingness to put the child(ren)s welfare above own or particular self-interests.
* Must be comfortable advocating for children and be able to refrain from taking sides in disputes between the parents.
* Must possess a working knowledge of the implications of substance abuse in a family as well as other emotional or psychological impairments.
* Must be adequately trained to perform the job requirements including provision of services to alleged victims of child sexual abuse or domestic violence.
* Must have a valid Arizona drivers license and meet coverage qualifications of the Casa de los Niños automobile insurance provider.
