Collateral and Deficiency Recovery Collectors are responsible for locating and contacting customers of charged-off accounts to recover collateral (automobile), get the customer current with payments, settle the account or initiate legal judgements as may be appropriate.
Essential Job Functions •Conduct skip tracing work to locate “good” contact information and assets (jobs/property/etc.) for customers of assigned charged-off accounts. •Contact customers in assigned queue to collect payments on charged-off accounts or negotiate settlement agreements. •Locate collateral (automobile) and inititate reposession process as may be appropriate and in the best interst of the company. •Make recommendations for accounts to begin legal action where applicable. •Conduct work with consistent adherence of Fireside policies and deal with issues in a manner that is in the best interest of the company and business objectives. Skills / Requirements
The successful candidate will possess the following characteristics and qualifications.
• High School diploma required. BA/BS desirable • Minimum 5 years progressive collection experience. 1-3 years experience legal recovery collections • 2 years specifically in Auto Lending industry preferred • Demonstrated strong knowledge of FDCPA • Demonstrated ability to effectively and creatively leverage skip trace tools and techniques to locate customers and assets, as well as negotiate payment settlements that are in the best interest of the company • Clear understanding of repossession process • Ability to work independently • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential • Strong customer service orientation is important • Strong problem solving skills • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed goals • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint • Collection agency experience is a plus • Must be able to work nights and/or weekends as required Physical Requirements Job requires ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, walk, twist and turn. Basic use of standard office equipment; use of computer keyboard/monitor. Very high phone use. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Working Conditions Standard office environment with heavy phone and computer use. Ability to work nights and weekends is a must. Important Notes
