Intermountain Centers is a private, not-for-profit service organization, which provides residential and home-based services to a variety of clinical populations. Intermountain programs are designed to develop interpersonal and social skills, self-sufficiency and self-management skills, academic and vocational skills, community awareness and responsibility and constructive future planning.

Intermountain Centers is currently recruiting for a Habilitation Specialist I - Behavioral Health Technician. The Habilitation Specialist I - Behavioral Health Technician may be assigned for all or a portion of his/her scheduled week at various agency sites on a daily or weekly basis, to provide direct client service and/or staff mentoring

Duties include, but are not limited to:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide 1:1 direct care and supervision for the clients in various settings and in the community, utilizing therapeutic approaches compatible with ICHD treatment philosophy, with an emphasis on empirical behavior techniques.
• Implements treatment plans and activity plans for clients who are participating in the Habilitation Program.
• Implements formal training programs and initiates incidental teaching opportunities.
• Ensures continuity of client’s program through program data sheets, attendance sheets, medication administration records, community outing sheets, incident reports, unusual incident reports and other forms of documentation.
• Provide mentoring to other direct service staff as requested by supervisor.
• Maintains daily physical condition of agency vehicles.
• Participates and assists in other aspects of program, e.g. training, staff meetings.
• Attends to client’s physical and/or self-care needs; to include rendering emergency aid when necessary.
• Acts as a crisis responder on a rotating basis for enrolled clients.
• Maintains approved work schedule and acceptable level of attendance.





Skills / Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge
• Demonstrates knowledge of intermediate to advanced behavioral management strategies.
• Demonstrates knowledge of client’s rights and when to report abuse.
• Demonstrates ongoing proficiency in crisis management techniques.
• Demonstrates accurate documentation.
• Computer literacy to include competency with Microsoft OS and Word application; knowledge of Excel and databases preferred.
Communication Skills
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow written and/or verbal requests and instructions.
• Ability to coach Direct Service I (BHPP) staff as requested by supervisor
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective work relationships and to function in positive ways with a work team.
• Ability to interact appropriately and positively with the public using a customer service orientation.
Mental Ability
• Ability to understand the organization and operation of the organization and outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to prioritize and organize multiple demands.
• Ability to handle a moderate to high level of stress.
• Ability to respond appropriately and quickly to emergency situations.

Physical Ability:
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., push or pull up to 150 lbs.
• Ability to drive a vehicle.
• Ability to safely negotiate non-adapted walkways, entrances, exits and facilities within the community service area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience and legal requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to behavioral health required; and one year of full-time behavioral health work experience preferred; or
• Any bachelors degree and at least one year of full-time behavioral health work experience required; or
• Associate’s degree and at least two years of full-time behavioral health work experience required; or
• High School diploma or high school equivalency diploma and four years of full-time behavioral health work experience, or two years of full-time behavioral health work experience and 18 hours of post-high school education in a field related to behavioral health completed within the past four years required.
• One year of full-time employment with ICHD as a direct service provider is preferred
• CPR and First Aide Certified (ICHD provides training)
• 21 years of age
• Possess a valid State Driver’s License and 5 year driving record that meets insurance requirements
• Legal record void of any felony
• Emergency Safety Response Certification (ICHD provides training-must pass physical and non-physical components of training course)
 In Arizona- all employees must be fingerprinted
 In Arizona- each staff member shall furnish on a prescribed form a physical examination report including a current TB test

Important Notes
Schedule requires, and provides, a great deal of flexibility. Regular hours are 35-40 per week. Some evening and weekend hours required. On call capability required.

Pay: $11.00 to $12.00/hour
